Affordable Art

Original art is both unique and a great way to add personality to a room, but many of us can’t afford to spend thousands on a painting. There are local artists in just about every community across the country who often sell their paintings directly or through studio tours or independent art shows. The prices are usually quite reasonable and, best of all, you can often find beautiful art in whatever medium and style you like.

Here are some links to some art shows and studio tours:

Small, local galleries are also great places to find affordable, interesting pieces and at the same time you can feel good about supporting a local retailer. One of the galleries in my own neighbourhood carries a diverse range of reasonably priced pieces, and has also been chosen to represent the seller of a long-lost Jackson Pollock painting:

Art schools often provide opportunities to purchase students’ artwork, and this is yet another way to find original pieces by emerging artists:

Purchasing art through any of these sources will give you pieces that are distinct, affordable and original.
