About The Designer

KAREN SEALY is a formally trained Designer and owner of Sealy Design Inc. (formerly Sealy Consulting), a successful, boutique Design firm. Karen and her Team work on both residential and commercial projects, everything from major interior alterations, additions, new builds, and even outdoor living spaces; to hotel and restaurant design, tradeshow design and fabrication, as well as retail boutiques and office spaces. She has been professionally designing and renovating for more than eight years, and has transformed cement boxes into contemporary magazine-ready lofts, and old compartmentalized houses into open concept, entertainers' dream homes.

Growing up with a father in the trades, Karen knows her way around construction sites and it shows in her ability to manage both the design and the build side of the project. Solutions are always well thought out in the way they will affect both. She and her Team offer a one-stop service which includes everything from hiring engineers for major structural changes to preparing permit drawings to the finishing touches like choosing and ordering window treatments and everything in between. With a large sample room, Sealy Design Inc. can also offer products for clients to purchase. This convenience allows clients to shop for a wide range of "approved" products without all the driving around - and many of these products aren't available locally or at a retail level.

Prior to becoming an Interior Designer, Karen was Director of Marketing for more than five years with one of the country's largest new media companies. Karen's university degrees in business and psychology combined with her professional experience taught her to read situations so she could offer practical yet creative solutions that would fall within a specified budget and timeline, skills Karen draws heavily on in her Interior Design practice.

Karen is an accomplished speaker and leads The Designer Series courses which range from Planning Your Renovations to How to Select a Whole Home Colour Palette to Building Value in Your Home, Strategies for Resale. Karen's enthusiasm for Design gives her a solid appreciation for various styles all have at least one thing in common: they enhance functional environments and optimize space, look stunning and continue to thrill clients.
